The Loungers cafe bar on the Fox Valley development at Stocksbridge, open all day for coffee, brunch, burgers and mezze, and listing dog friendly among its facilities on its own site alongside step-free access and an accessible toilet. It works on a walk-in basis for parties of six or fewer, so you do not need to book after a walk at Underbank or Langsett. Fox Valley has a large free car park and is on the main bus route into Sheffield. It is the most reliable indoor stop with a wet dog anywhere between Sheffield and Penistone.

ADD A PLACEThe Yorkshire Water reservoir immediately west of Stocksbridge, below Midhopestones and the A616, with a perimeter walk of about two and a half miles on a mixture of track and field path. Yorkshire Water planted a nine-hectare woodland of more than eighteen thousand trees on the northern bank, so the tree cover here is young and thickening year on year. The sailing club uses the water and the far end runs into farmland. Unlike Langsett, Scout Dike and Winscar, Yorkshire Water publishes no visitor page for Underbank, so there is no car park, no toilet and no marked trail: treat it as a local walk rather than a day out.

ADD A WALKKnow one we have missed?
Local knowledge beats desk research every time. Name the place and we will check it properly — the venue's own policy, confirmed, then stamped and dated like every other listing.
One short email when we add places or a council changes its beach rules. No noise, easy out.
