A steep wooded clough running down to the Little Don at Deepcar, listed by Sheffield City Council as one of its fifty local green spaces. The path follows the stream through the trees between Manchester Road and the river, and it is shaded, damp and slippery in wet weather, with steps in places. It is short, but it is the only real bit of woodland walking inside Stocksbridge and Deepcar themselves rather than up on the moor edge. Fox Valley and its cafes are five minutes away on foot.

THE SMALL PRINTSheffield City Council has no dog control PSPO; the only PSPO in the city, from 7 April 2025, covers the city centre and concerns alcohol, begging, loitering, drug use and urination, not dogs. The applicable rule is the council's Responsible Dog Walking Code of Conduct: "keep dogs that do not have reliable recall on a lead", "stick to designated paths to avoid damaging sensitive habitats, ground flora, and tree roots" and "keep dogs out of waterways to protect vegetation, wildlife, and water quality", with short leads from March to August in ecologically sensitive areas. It is guidance rather than a fineable order. Failing to clean up is an offence with a £50 fixed penalty or a fine up to £1,000 on prosecution.
