134 places on our list here — pubs that let the dog in, walks from the village, somewhere to stay. Every verdict below was checked by a human — the stamp shows when. The rest are listed and waiting on a check, and say so.
A fifty-litre brewery in a converted shop on King Street, two minutes from the harbour, pouring four of its own changing beers across handpull, keg and bottle and running through styles most seaside bars never touch, mild, porter, stout and wheat beer among them. It is small, quiet and deliberately not a sports bar, with a little seating out on the front pavement. Opening is Wednesday to Sunday afternoons only, closed Monday and Tuesday, so it does not work as an evening stop. The harbour and the South Beach steps are a couple of streets away, though from May to September the sand in front of the amusements is closed to dogs and you need to walk south past the sea wall. The dog welcome is recorded by CAMRA branch volunteers rather than by the taproom itself.
A refitted traditional pub on Prospect Street, five minutes up from the harbour, with Bridlington Brewery working behind a window at the back so you can watch the beer being made. Four rotating cask ales, Yorkshire Wolds Pub of the Year 2025, roadside seating out front and en-suite rooms upstairs. It opens ten in the morning to ten at night every day, which makes it useful either end of a beach walk, though it can shut early on quiet winter days. It is a couple of streets back from the South Beach exclusion zone, so from May to September the nearest legal sand with a dog is south of the Princess Mary sea wall. The dog welcome, and the fact that treats are kept behind the bar, is recorded by CAMRA's branch volunteers rather than stated by the pub itself.
A Grade II listed pub on the High Street in Bridlington Old Town, a mile inland from the seafront and a different world from it, restored into a warren of split-level rooms in dark wood with four working fireplaces and old photographs on bare brick. The large paved rear garden is a sun trap in summer. Three changing cask ales, cheese and meat platters on Friday and Saturday by pre-booking, and a function room upstairs. Parking is on-street on the High Street with a one-hour limit, so use the Old Town car park off Applegarth Lane instead. The dog welcome is recorded by CAMRA's branch volunteers rather than by the pub, and they note it covers the Tap Room and the garden rather than the whole building.
A two-roomed traditional bar on Baylegate in the Old Town, standing in the shadow of the Bayle, the fourteenth-century gatehouse of Bridlington Priory, and under new management since December 2025. There is a real fire, a garden, pool, darts, Thursday bingo and live music, with Punch as the freeholder and a rotating cask ale on. Food was still to come at the time of the last update. Parking is on-street around Baylegate and Kirkgate, and the Priory itself, which welcomes dogs inside, is fifty yards away. The dog rule, dogs welcome in the bar only, comes from CAMRA branch volunteers rather than from the pub.
A roadside inn on Jewison Lane at Marton, between Sewerby and Flamborough and right beside a caravan and camping site, so it fills with holiday people in season. Inside there is a drinking bar running into an open-plan family area, with a separate restaurant off the main entrance for evening meals, plus a real fire, darts, pool and dominoes. There is a garden and a tarmac car park with disabled bays, which is unusual out here. It opens Wednesday to Sunday only and is shut Monday and Tuesday. The dog rule is the important bit and it is a strict one: CAMRA volunteers record guide dogs only indoors, so an ordinary dog stays in the garden.
A restored seventeenth-century coach house on Market Place in the Old Town, with the village stocks still standing outside the door and an open-plan interior of three drinking areas. Theakston Old Peculier is the regular, with three changing beers alongside, and home-cooked pizza comes in on weekdays by arrangement with the pizzeria next door. There is a paved garden to the side and rear, which is where a dog goes: CAMRA's volunteers, who surveyed the pub in September 2025, record it as dog friendly in the garden only, not in the bar. Parking is on-street around Market Place and free after six. This is the top of the Old Town, a good half hour's walk from the sea.

ADD A PLACEThe cafe inside the Spa on South Marine Drive, glass-fronted straight onto South Beach and the Princess Mary Promenade, and the obvious warm stop when the wind comes off the bay. The Spa's own cafe page says it is now dog friendly with a designated sitting area in Sessions, which is the ground-floor bar and lounge rather than the main hall. It opens nine to four Monday to Saturday and ten to four on Sunday, and it warns that it can close early on big gig days, so check before you build a walk round it. This is the town-centre end of the beach, so from 1 May to 30 September the sand outside is inside the council's dog exclusion and you have to walk south past the sea wall to get a dog onto it. Pay and display parking is on South Marine Drive right outside.
The sea-view cafeteria inside the leisure centre on the Promenade, reached by its own gently sloping second entrance straight off the front so you never go through the pool side. East Riding Leisure's own visitor page sets out the rules: dogs are welcome at the designated dog-friendly tables, must always be on a lead and under your control, must stay on the floor and never on the seats, must not eat from crockery, and must not disturb other guests by barking or jumping. The same page says the cafes sell dog treats and dog ice creams, which is unusual for a council building. This started as a Bridlington trial and now runs across the East Riding centres. The centre sits on North Beach, above the stretch that closes to dogs from 1 May to 30 September.

ADD A PLACEFlat soft sand at the far south end of Bridlington, reached down the steep slipway beside the Park and Ride off the A165. This is the beach that matters if you have a dog in summer, because it lies well south of the Princess Mary Promenade Sea Wall and is therefore outside the council's seasonal exclusion, so dogs are free here every day of the year while the town-centre sand is closed to them. It holds a Seaside Award and is a designated bathing beach, with toilets open all year and a summer cafe at the Park and Ride. Second World War anti-tank blocks lie tumbled on the sand to the south, a reminder that this coast is eroding fast. The slipway is steep and uneven, and parking is in the Park and Ride car park behind the bus stop.
The wide flat sand below North Marine Drive, running from the North Pier up towards the cliffs at Sewerby. East Riding of Yorkshire Council's dog Public Spaces Protection Order excludes dogs from one marked stretch only, between the northern end of North Marine Promenade and the north-eastern face of the North Pier, and only from 1 May to 30 September. The sand north of the promenade end, below Limekiln Lane and on towards Sewerby steps and Danes Dyke, sits outside the order and is open with no lead requirement all year. From 1 October to 30 April the whole beach is open, and at low water it dries hard and wide enough for a proper run. Pay and display parking is on North Marine Drive and at Limekiln Lane, and both fill by mid-morning on a hot day.
The long southern sand that starts at the harbour and runs unbroken past the Spa towards Wilsthorpe and Fraisthorpe. The council's dog PSPO excludes dogs from 1 May to 30 September between the southern face of the South Pier and the eastern face of Princess Mary Promenade Sea Wall, which is the busy town end in front of the amusements and the Spa. Carry on south past the end of the sea wall and you are outside the order, with several miles of open sand and no seasonal ban at all, which is where most local dog walkers go in summer. Out of season the whole beach is unrestricted. Parking is pay and display on South Marine Drive and at the Spa, or free further south on Belvedere Road.

ADD A PLACEA flat mile and a bit round the part of Bridlington most visitors never see, a mile inland from the front. Start at the Priory on Church Green, go through the Bayle, the fourteenth-century gatehouse that is all that is left of the monastery buildings, then west along the cobbled Georgian High Street past the Board Inn and the Black Lion to Market Place and the old stocks outside the Pack Horse, and back by Applegarth Lane and the churchyard. No dog control order applies anywhere on the route, because the East Riding order covers only four named beaches, so the only real requirement is a lead on the road and picking up. The Priory itself holds Animal-Friendly Church status and will let a dog inside. Parking is the Old Town car park off Applegarth Lane, or on-street with a one-hour limit on the High Street.
A flat there-and-back along the top of Bridlington North Beach, starting where North Marine Drive meets the promenade and running north below Limekiln Lane, past the sailing club and the beach chalets, then up onto the low clifftop grass and on to the gates of Sewerby Hall. It is the walk that gets you out of the seasonal exclusion, because the closed stretch ends at the northern end of North Marine Promenade and everything beyond that, including the sand at Sewerby steps, is open to dogs all year. The surface is concrete promenade and then mown grass, so it works with a pushchair as far as the ramp. The Ship Inn at Sewerby is at the far end and takes dogs. Parking is pay and display on North Marine Drive and at Limekiln Lane, both of which fill by mid-morning in August.
Two miles of open sand each way, down the slipway at the Park and Ride off the A165 and south past the tumbled anti-tank blocks towards Auburn and Fraisthorpe. This is the beach that carries no dog order at all, so where the town sand closes from May to September this stretch stays open every day of the year, and at low water it is wide and hard enough to throw a ball down. The cliffs on the landward side are soft boulder clay and slumping, so keep off the base of them after rain, and check the tide because there is no way up between the two slipways. There is a cafe and toilets at the Park and Ride at the start and the Cow Shed at Fraisthorpe at the far end. Parking is in the Park and Ride car park behind the bus stop.
Walked something better? Send us the route and it goes on the map.
ADD A WALKA large touring, camping and holiday-home park on Pioneer Road at the southern edge of Bridlington, a short walk down to Wilsthorpe sand through the dunes. The park's own frequently asked questions set the dog rules out plainly: pets are permitted on the touring site and camping field at two pounds fifty per dog per night, a maximum of two dogs per pitch, and dogs are not permitted in any hire fleet caravan, camping cabin or shepherd hut with the exception of assistance and guide dogs. That split matters, because it means the park works if you bring your own van or tent and not if you want to rent a caravan on site. Wilsthorpe beach below is outside the council's seasonal exclusion, so it is open to dogs every day of the year. The Park and Ride cafe and the Belvedere slipway are both within walking distance.

ADD A PLACEThe Priory Church of St Mary on The Bolt in the Old Town, the surviving nave of an Augustinian house founded in 1113 and one of the largest parish churches in the country, with the Bayle gatehouse alongside it. The Priory holds Animal-Friendly Church status and is a member of the Anglican Society for the Welfare of Animals, and says in its own words that dogs, and well-behaved owners, are welcome at the Priory. Its own pages go further and say visitors with assistance and pet dogs are welcome and that a water bowl is put out during services. It is open to the public Monday to Friday eleven to three and Saturday ten to twelve, and the churchyard, managed as a living churchyard for wildlife, is open at any time. Parking is on-street around Church Green and Kirkgate, or in the Old Town car park off Applegarth Lane.
