Wilsthorpe Beach

Bridlington · YO15 3LX
RIGHT NOW (JUL) · OPEN — AND EVERY OTHER MONTH TOO

Flat soft sand at the far south end of Bridlington, reached down the steep slipway beside the Park and Ride off the A165. This is the beach that matters if you have a dog in summer, because it lies well south of the Princess Mary Promenade Sea Wall and is therefore outside the council's seasonal exclusion, so dogs are free here every day of the year while the town-centre sand is closed to them. It holds a Seaside Award and is a designated bathing beach, with toilets open all year and a summer cafe at the Park and Ride. Second World War anti-tank blocks lie tumbled on the sand to the south, a reminder that this coast is eroding fast. The slipway is steep and uneven, and parking is in the Park and Ride car park behind the bus stop.

THE SMALL PRINTNo seasonal restriction. The East Riding dog exclusion on Bridlington South Beach runs 1 May to 30 September only between the southern face of the South Pier and the eastern face of Princess Mary Promenade Sea Wall. Wilsthorpe is south of the sea wall and outside the order all year.
