1 place on our list here — pubs that let the dog in. Every verdict below was checked by a human — the stamp shows when.
A small stone village pub up Pilley Hill off The Walk at Birdwell, with an open coal fire in the front and a larger slate-floored room behind hung with old village photographs. The slate floor is the point if you are arriving with a wet dog off the Pilley and Tankersley field paths, which run from the door towards Wentworth Castle and the Elsecar valley. Traditional meals most evenings, a garden and its own car park. CAMRA's Barnsley branch surveyors list it as dog friendly; the pub publishes no policy of its own.

Local knowledge beats desk research every time. Name the place and we will check it properly — the venue's own policy, confirmed, then stamped and dated like every other listing.
