Open ground on the Thorncliffe side of Chapeltown, between High Green and the old Newton Chambers ironworks land, listed by Sheffield City Council among its fifty local green spaces. It is level playing field and rough grass with a path round the edge, used by the sports club and by everybody in Chapeltown and High Green with a dog. Thorncliffe Wood runs up the valley to the north for something longer and rougher. This is a short local walk, not a destination.

THE SMALL PRINTSheffield City Council has no dog control PSPO. Its only PSPO, in force from 7 April 2025 for three years, covers the city centre and prohibits alcohol in the street, begging, loitering, drug use and urination or defecation, with nothing about dogs. Dogs are governed by the council's Responsible Dog Walking Code of Conduct: "keep dogs that do not have reliable recall on a lead", "stick to designated paths", "if another dog is on a lead, put yours on a lead too as a courtesy", and short leads from March to August in ecologically sensitive areas. Guidance, not an order. Fouling is an offence at a £50 fixed penalty or a fine up to £1,000. Keep clear of the marked pitches when games are on.
