Our drawing of the route — the shape of the walk, not a navigation aid. Carry OS Explorer on the hill.
Chapeltown's district park, a long strip of open grass, mature trees and stream running down the valley behind the shops, with a surfaced perimeter path that makes a circuit of about a mile. It is a town park rather than countryside, with a play area, bowling green and sports pitches, and it is the everyday dog walk for most of Chapeltown and Burncross. The station is a few minutes away at the top end, which makes this an easy one to reach without a car. For anything longer, Wheata Woods and Greno Woods are a mile and a half to the south-west.
