Chapeltown's district park, a long strip of open grass, mature trees and stream running down the valley behind the shops, with a surfaced perimeter path that makes a circuit of about a mile. It is a town park rather than countryside, with a play area, bowling green and sports pitches, and it is the everyday dog walk for most of Chapeltown and Burncross. The station is a few minutes away at the top end, which makes this an easy one to reach without a car. For anything longer, Wheata Woods and Greno Woods are a mile and a half to the south-west.

THE SMALL PRINTSheffield City Council has no dog control Public Spaces Protection Order. The only PSPO in the city came into force on 7 April 2025 and covers the city centre only, prohibiting alcohol in the street, begging, loitering, drug use and urination or defecation; it says nothing about dogs and does not reach Chapeltown. What governs dogs in Sheffield parks is the council's Responsible Dog Walking Code of Conduct, which asks you to "keep dogs that do not have reliable recall on a lead", to "stick to designated paths to avoid damaging sensitive habitats, ground flora, and tree roots", to "keep dogs out of waterways" and, in ecologically sensitive areas, that "dogs must be on short leads from March to August". The code is guidance, not a fineable order. Fouling is the exception: failing to clean up is an offence carrying a £50 on-the-spot fine or prosecution and a fine up to £1,000. Dogs are excluded from the fenced children's play area.
