An eighteenth-century coaching inn facing East Witton's green, with sweeping settles, sturdy oak tables and Masham ales on the pumps. Dogs are welcome in the real-ale bar and the garden, where water bowls are provided, but the restaurant is kept dog-free. A limited number of bedrooms take dogs for a nightly charge.
A sixteenth-century coaching inn beside the River Cover, with a riverside beer garden that is one of the best places in Wensleydale to sit with a wet dog. Dogs are welcome inside and out and water bowls are put down; the pub simply asks that they are kept under control. Over 350 years of serving travellers and it still shows.
