Thirteenth-century inn of flagged floors and open fires in the hamlet of Hardraw, with England's highest single-drop waterfall in its back garden. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the main bar on a lead, and all rooms bar the two suites are dog friendly at fifteen pounds per dog per night. The Pennine Way passes the front door.
