A small shingle beach below the Babbacombe cliffs, with beach huts, a couple of cafes and the Cary Arms at one end. Torbay Council lists it among the beaches where dogs are allowed all year round, which makes it the obvious summer choice on this stretch while Oddicombe next door is closed.

ADD A PLACEA cliffside inn-with-spa dropped onto Babbacombe Beach, and one of the few smart hotels in Devon where the dog is not quietly shut out of dinner. Many of the rooms, suites, cottages, beach huts and beach suites take dogs, and they are permitted in the main restaurant and lounge, with beds, bowls and treats supplied and an A La Bark menu of sausages, chicken dinner and dog ice cream. The coast path starts on the property.

Local knowledge beats desk research every time. Name the place and we will check it properly — the venue's own policy, confirmed, then stamped and dated like every other listing.
One short email when we add places or a council changes its beach rules. No noise, easy out.
