A Craft Union pub on Market Street in the centre of Hoyland, listed by the operator as a dog friendly pub, with an outside area, sports screens and an accessible toilet. It is a drinking pub rather than a dining one, and there is no published detail on which rooms a dog may use, so ask at the bar. Elsecar Heritage Centre and the reservoir are about a mile down the hill, which makes this the nearest town centre pub to that walk.
A community pub at 30 Hoyland Road in Hoyland Common, on the road between the A6135 and Hoyland town centre. Craft Union lists it among its dog friendly pubs and keeps water bowls behind the bar; the operator's line is that everyone is welcome, paws and all. It is a drinking pub with pool tables, darts, live sport and a DJ at weekends rather than a food house. Wombwell Wood and Elsecar Reservoir are both within a couple of miles.
