There are plenty of walks from the doorstep including a half-mile walk into the heart of picturesque Crayke village with a popular pub. Less than 3 miles away you ll find the popular market town of Easingwold full of history dating back to the 12th century. The town offers plenty of shops to browse and cafes to relax and watch the world go by. No visit to North Yorkshire would be complete without a trip to York which is 13.5 miles away including the impressive Minster castle and city walls. North Yorkshire is also home to magnificent country houses and Castle Howard (14 miles) is a must-see attraction and the starting point for some lovely walks in the Howardian Hills National Landscape. An outside seating area complete with garden chairs and a table makes the perfect place for enjoying a morning brew on fine days. The lovely terrace overlooks the grounds and surrounding fields. Need to know: 2 bedrooms 1 king and 1 twin with single beds. 2 bathrooms 1 en suite shower room with WC, 1 bathroom with shower over bath and WC. Kitchen electric hob, electric oven, fridge with ice box, washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave. Smart TV. Own outside seating area. Dogs must be on leads at all times outside the property. Crayke village and castle loop
Three and a quarter miles round the one proper hill in the whole Vale, climbing the short pull past St Cuthbert's church and the private castle to a view that runs to the Minster twenty miles off, then dropping back through fields; sixty metres of ascent and about an hour and a half. Park on the village street in Crayke or start from Easingwold two miles west and walk in; the 31X bus between York and Easingwold gets you within striking distance. Field gates and a couple of stiles, grazing sheep and cattle on the slopes so leads through stock, and a beck at the bottom for a drink; the climb is short but steep enough to matter for an old dog on a warm day, and the descent fields are slippery clay after rain.
