Snaith, the Aire bank and the two Cowicks

Snaith and Cowick are a Walkers are Welcome town and this is the pick of the fifteen heritage walks the town council published, starting as they all do from the free station car park on Pontefract Road. It goes out past the Priory Church to Snaith Ings and up onto the bank of the Aire, which is embanked high above the carr land here and gives a long view over the Vale towards Drax. The way back drops to East Cowick, follows the old road through to West Cowick and returns by the field path behind Bourn Mill Balk. Almost all of it is bank top and field edge with working stock on the ings, and the Aire below the bank is deep and unfenced.
