Dog-friendly pubs in Conisbrough

A micropub at 2 New Hill in Conisbrough, named after the old trolleybus terminus that stood here and hung with local history photographs, including the eight men from the street who enlisted together in the First World War. It is one small quiet room with four rotating cask ales from local breweries, no shots and no cocktails, and a jar of dog treats kept on the bar; children are allowed until 7pm and there is a small garden. Conisbrough Castle and the Trans Pennine Trail along the Don are both a short walk downhill, which makes this the obvious end point for a walk. There is a self-contained holiday apartment above the pub, though nothing published says whether a dog may stay in it. The dog treat jar and the welcome are recorded on CAMRA's WhatPub survey of February 2026 rather than on the pub's own site.

A community local on West Street in Conisbrough, a few minutes below the castle and within walking distance of the Trans Pennine Trail crossing of the Don. It is a Craft Union house and the operator's own page for the pub lists it as a dog friendly pub alongside the pool table, the dartboard, the function room and the sports screens. What that page does not do is say which rooms a dog may use or whether bowls are put down, so treat it as dogs allowed rather than dogs catered for. There is outdoor seating at the front, and the pub shows football and rugby on several screens so it is loud on match days.

A free house standing on its own on the A630 Sheffield Road at the Rotherham end of Conisbrough, split into a public bar and a lounge and dining area, with up to five guest ales on handpull and a garden and car park. It runs a Monday club with chip butties, pie nights on Thursdays and a Friday carvery, so it fills up at mealtimes but the bar side stays easy for a dog. Conisbrough Viaduct and the Trans Pennine Trail down in the Don valley are a mile away and this is the pub on the road back up. CAMRA's WhatPub survey lists the pub as dog friendly without naming a room, which is the only published policy we could find, so check whether the dining side is open to dogs before you take a table.
