Barugh Green · 2 checked
Fires, flagstones and no side-eye at the bar. Every pub below lets the dog in — and we say exactly which rooms.
A food-led pub on Barugh Lane at Barugh Green, put back in 2014 to its original layout of three separate drinking areas at the front with a large restaurant behind, and refreshed again in September 2025. Sitting in one of the front rooms with a dog keeps you clear of the restaurant, and there is a real fire, a garden and a car park. It is close to the Dearne Way and the paths down to Barugh Locks on the old Barnsley Canal. CAMRA's Barnsley branch surveyors list it as dog friendly; the pub publishes no policy of its own.
A Barnsley Road local at Barugh Green reopened in June 2026 by the team behind the Garrison in town, with a refreshed interior, well-kept cask and a serious food offer for a village pub. There is a garden, a smoking shelter and a car park, and the lane opposite drops to the Dearne and the old canal line towards Barugh Locks. Being newly reopened, hours may still settle down. CAMRA's Barnsley branch surveyors list it as dog friendly; the pub publishes no policy of its own.
