The pub at the top of Beadnell, five minutes from the bay, and unusually clear about dogs: they are welcome in the bar, in the restaurant and outside through every service hour. Water is put down inside and out, with a tap in the garden for rinsing sandy legs. Dogs may also stay overnight in the rooms.
These are the parts only the business can add. We check the dog policy and stamp the date — photos, prices and their own words are theirs to put in, and this listing is waiting for them.
The fire, the snug, the water bowl by the door.
A few dishes and what they cost, so people arrive knowing.
Can the dog actually sleep here, and what does it cost.
Which rooms, which times, whether the whippet gets a biscuit.
Claiming fills every box above, and lets you reply to reviews when they open. £15 a month, no contract, and it never changes the verdict — the stamp stays ours.
A mile and a half of firm sand curving south from Beadnell harbour to the Long Nanny burn, with dunes behind and the Cheviots on the skyline inland. Dogs are welcome all year: no seasonal ban applies anywhere on this stretch. The tern colony at the Long Nanny end is fenced and wardened in summer, so keep to the water's edge as you get near it.
Five miles there and back along the great arc of Beadnell Bay to the footbridge over the Long Nanny burn, two hours on level sand and dune path. Start from the harbour car park at the north end of Beadnell, a small pay-and-display that fills by mid-morning; the National Trust car park at Low Newton makes a better base if you would rather walk it from the south. The beach itself has no seasonal dog ban, but the National Trust ropes off the Arctic and little tern colony at the Long Nanny and wardens it round the clock from May to August, and dogs must be on a short lead through that stretch.
A revived village hotel with a decent kitchen and a set of pet-friendly bedrooms, the ground-floor ones opening straight outside so the six o'clock walk does not involve a corridor. Ten minutes on foot to the bay. The hotel confirms pet-friendly accommodation but does not publish a dog charge, so agree it at booking.
Nobody has written one for The Craster Arms. If you have been with the dog, you would be the first — and the first review is the one everybody reads.
