Sutton Trod and Rockford Fields

The Trod is the old raised footpath that carried people between Sutton village and Hull across the carrs, and Hull City Council's signposted route uses it to link St James's Church on Church Street to the wildflower meadow at Rockford Fields. It leaves the village past The Ship Inn, works through Hornbeams Close and Tweendykes Road, crosses the very busy Sutton Road and drops through Glenwood Close onto the meadow, then comes home along the Hornsea Rail Trail and Trans Pennine Trail past the Barbara Robson Playing Field. This is Hull City Council, a unitary authority with no dog control Public Spaces Protection Order of any kind, and the council's route notes ask only that you pick up after your dog. Sutton Road is fast and there is a signalled crossing about 340 yards away if the direct crossing looks unwise.
