A locally owned local on Wath Road at the Swinton end of Mexborough, with a garden, sport on the screens and a week of pool competitions, games nights, darts and karaoke rather than any food or real ale. It is a straightforward one-bar pub, which means there is no dining room a dog has to be kept out of, and the garden takes the overflow in summer. Manvers Lake and the Trans Pennine Trail along the Dearne are a short drive west if you want a walk to pair with it. CAMRA's WhatPub survey of April 2024 lists the pub as dog friendly with no room excluded, rather than the pub publishing a policy of its own.

A micro bar at 88a Bank Street, a few minutes on foot from Mexborough High Street and the railway station, with bottled beers and cans rather than handpulled cask, a small garden and live music nights. There is one step in and a ground-floor accessible toilet, and the room is small enough that a dog will be under the table rather than roaming. The towpath of the River Don Navigation at Mexborough Low Lock is ten minutes down the hill and is the obvious walk to pair with it. CAMRA's WhatPub listing records the bar as dog friendly; the bar itself does not publish a policy.
