Robin Hood's Bay, Fylingthorpe and Ramsdale

An inland 4.5-mile circular of about two and a half hours behind the village, dropping into the wooded cleft of Ramsdale and climbing back out, 175 metres of ascent on paths that are wet underfoot for much of the year. Start on Thorpe Lane at the top of the Bay, where there is limited free roadside parking, or use the Bank Top car park and add a quarter of a mile. Ramsdale Beck runs clean and shallow and the woods are sheltered on a windy day, but there are half a dozen stiles including two tall stone ones, and sheep are on the fields between Fylingthorpe and the beck almost all year.
