A short flat loop of two and three quarter miles, barely an hour, dropping off the ridge from Kirby Hill down field paths and lanes to the 1322 battle site on the northern edge of Boroughbridge and back, with 10 metres of climbing and no stiles worth the name. Start at All Saints church in Kirby Hill where there is roadside parking by the green; Boroughbridge and its buses and cafes lie a mile down the hill if you want to extend it. Arable and grazing land either side means leads for most of the route, and the last stretch uses a lane with occasional traffic, but it is level, quick-drying and a sensible winter option for a dog that no longer wants hills.

THE SMALL PRINTDogs on leads across the arable and grazing land and on the lane sections, which carry occasional traffic.
