Parking

Free on-street parking on Windmill Way and around Ingleby Mill Primary School; avoid the school run. Roundhill Avenue and Barwick Way give free roadside parking closer to the Bassleton Beck woods.

A waymarked seven-mile circuit that rings the whole of Ingleby Barwick, signed in both directions so you can join it anywhere and cut it short on the estate roads. Clockwise from Windmill Way it drops to the River Leven at Ingleby Hill Farm, climbs back through Crosswell Park, crosses the estate to the River Tees under the Queen Elizabeth Way bridge, then follows Bassleton Beck through Thornaby Woods and the plantation before returning under Barwick Way. Surfaces run from tarmac pavement to genuine mud in the beck woods, and two working farms are crossed on the route, one of them over a cattle grid and through field gates. Stockton-on-Tees has only two Public Spaces Protection Orders, for Stockton town centre and Norton, so no lead order applies anywhere on this trail.

THE SMALL PRINTNo Public Spaces Protection Order covers Ingleby Barwick: Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's only orders are for Stockton town centre and Norton, both in force from 3 April 2026 for three years. Leads are still needed on the farm sections at Ingleby Hill Farm and White House Farm, where the council's own waymarking takes you through field gates, past farm buildings and over a cattle grid.
