Hull Marina and the Old Town Waterfront Circuit

A flat two miles of quayside, cobbles and river that takes in most of what Hull is known for: the yacht basin in the old Humber and Railway Docks, the fruit-market warehouses on Humber Street, Victoria Pier where the New Holland ferry used to leave, the tidal surge barrier and the Scale Lane swing bridge over the River Hull. It is all Hull City Council highway and public realm, and the city has no dog control order of any kind, so this is one of the few English city centres where nothing on a walk like this is closed to a dog. The route runs the marina pontoons, follows the Humber promenade east past The Deep, turns up the River Hull to Scale Lane, then comes back through the Old Town on High Street, Queen's Gardens and Princes Quay. The pontoons and the swing bridge deck are steel and slippery in the wet, and the Humber railings have gaps a small dog can go through.
