A 7.8-mile circular of about three and a half hours, out from Hayburn Wyke on the level Cinder Track past Staintondale to Ravenscar and the wartime radar station, then back south on the Cleveland Way above Beast Cliff. Park at the Hayburn Wyke Inn on Newlands Road, asking inside first, or at the small roadside space by the nature reserve; the Cinder Track here is the old Scarborough to Whitby railway and is surfaced well enough for a buggy or a stiff-hipped dog. The trackbed is the best off-lead mile on this coast, but the clifftop return is unfenced, wooded and steep in places, and the boulder beach at the wyke where the waterfall drops onto the shore is a scramble not every dog will manage.
