Ancient woodland on York's eastern edge managed by Forestry England, with a four-kilometre loop of wide rides that turn blue with bluebells each spring. Dogs can be off lead for nearly all of it, with just the arable field margins along the access lanes needing care in cropping season. Free parking on Intake Lane from Dunnington or on Hagg Lane; expect mud after rain.
