Local amenities can be found a short drive away and include a popular farm shop (2.3 miles) and pub (2 miles). The nearby market town of Shaftesbury (3 miles) is home to Gold Hill made famous by the Hovis adverts in the 1970 s a museum and the historic Abbey as well as a great range of independent shops and cafes. Gillingham (5 miles) is also within easy reach and has a mainline train station and choice of supermarkets. Those wishing to travel slightly further afield will enjoy a trip to the Stourhead Estate (11 miles) which is in the care of the National Trust Longleat Estate (21 miles) Stonehenge (27 miles) or the Haynes Motor Museum (20 miles). The surrounding countryside is perfect for country walks and cycle rides especially with the Cranbourne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the edge of which is just six miles to the east of the property. A few miles away the town of Shaftesbury will be instantly recognisable to many particularly the town s steep cobbled street Gold Hill also known as Hovis Hill due to its role in the nostalgic TV adverts. The town of Bruton also makes a great place for a day trip and has become somewhat of a magnet for young fashionable day-trippers thanks to its world-class art gallery upmarket eateries and chic bars. Other places of interest in the area include Longleat Safari Park Glastonbury Abbey and the Fleet Air Arm Museum.
