Parking

Free on-street parking along Beckside and Grovehill Road, plus the pay-and-display at Flemingate five minutes back into town. Beckside is narrow, residential and fills early on a fine Saturday.

Beverley Beck is the town's three-quarter-mile cut down to the River Hull, and the towpath from Beckside is the flattest serious walk in the East Riding. From the old warehouses and the Barge Preservation Society's shed the path runs dead level past the Beck lock to the river at Grovehill, then turns north along the flood bank all the way to Hull Bridge at Tickton. The bank is grazed in places and the drop into the Hull is steep and tidal with no easy way out, so a dog that swims is better on a lead along the river section. There is no dog control order anywhere on this route; East Riding of Yorkshire Council's own countryside guidance is simply to keep the dog on a lead, or in sight at all times and confident it will return promptly on command.
