A two-room pub at 1 Aldham House Lane on the highest point of Wombwell, looking straight out over Wombwell Wood and down the Dearne valley. The two rooms have no door between them, so you go back outside to move from one to the other, which is either a nuisance or an easy excuse to take the dog round the block. There is a garden, a smoking shelter and its own car park, and the woods are a five-minute walk. CAMRA's Barnsley branch surveyors list it as dog friendly on a survey dated November 2018; the pub publishes no policy of its own, and cask ale is not currently kept.
