Dog-friendly walks in Patrington

A short, flat, all-weather lane walk between two villages and two very good buildings. Start under the great crocketed spire of St Patrick’s Church in Patrington, the fourteenth-century cruciform church people call the Queen of Holderness, and take the lane signposted south for Patrington Haven, out past the last houses and across the flat drained land towards Sunk Island. A kilometre on you come into Patrington Haven and the green, with the 250-year-old Burns Head looking over it, a pub that stood on the water’s edge before the Humber silted and Sunk Island stopped being an island. Return the same way. It is quiet single-track tarmac with verges rather than a footpath, so a lead is the sensible call, and the fields either side carry stock at times.
