Watch gliders soar over the Cheviots barn owls hunting many types of waders and ducks gathering in the intentionally flooded areas and keep your eye out for the kingfishers and otters by the river the latter being notoriously shy and extremely difficult to spot. The market towns of Wooler and Kelso are just a short drive away both offering a range of restaurants pubs and shops. There are golf courses gliding and even horse racing at Kelso and you can enjoy the many walks and cycleways in and around the Cheviot Hills.
