Scampston · 1 checked & stamped
Lunch with the dog under the table, not tied to a post outside. Where Scampston says yes indoors, we say so — and where it is the terrace only, we say that too.
The cafe at Scampston sits by the Walled Garden and, unusually for a garden cafe, you do not need a garden ticket to walk in and use it. The estate's own answer on dogs names the cafe and the cafe terrace as places dogs may come, along with the parkland and the hall gardens; only the Walled Garden itself and the Hall are out of bounds. Food is gardener's lunches, jacket potatoes, ploughman's, scones with clotted cream and freshly baked cakes, with hot food served until 3pm and last orders at 4.30pm. Open Wednesday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays during the garden season, roughly April to the start of November, and shut for the winter.
Know a Scampston pub, cafe or place to stay that lets dogs in? Tell us and we will go and check it.
ADD A PLACEKnow one we have missed?
Local knowledge beats desk research every time. Name the place and we will check it properly — the venue's own policy, confirmed, then stamped and dated like every other listing.
One short email when we add places or a council changes its beach rules. No noise, easy out.
