Scampston · 1 checked & stamped
Days out where the dog is on the guest list, not tied up outside.
The Scampston estate sits just south of the A64 between Rillington and East Knapton, and it splits neatly for dog owners: the Piet Oudolf Walled Garden and the Hall itself are assistance dogs only, but the 80 acres of Capability Brown parkland, the Hall gardens, the Pantry Cafe and the cafe terrace all take dogs on a lead. The parkland has three waymarked circuits from the car park, taking in the lake, the woodland gardens and the Palladian Bridge. Access is by paid admission rather than a public right of way, and in 2026 a Gardens ticket covering the walled garden, hall gardens and parkland is £12.50 an adult and £6.50 a child. Open Wednesday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays, 10am to 5pm, from the start of April to the beginning of November, so it is shut for the winter.
Know a Scampston pub, cafe or place to stay that lets dogs in? Tell us and we will go and check it.
ADD A PLACEKnow one we have missed?
Local knowledge beats desk research every time. Name the place and we will check it properly — the venue's own policy, confirmed, then stamped and dated like every other listing.
One short email when we add places or a council changes its beach rules. No noise, easy out.
