Dog-friendly pubs in Roos

The second of Roos’s two pubs, a two-room village local on Main Street with a front bar and a separate games room carrying pool, darts and sports television, and four en-suite letting rooms upstairs. Tetley Bitter and Greene King IPA are the regulars with two changing beers alongside, there is a real fire, outdoor seating and its own car park, and lunchtime and evening meals are served. Open mic runs every other Tuesday and there is a quiz on Sunday nights. Dogs are welcome throughout with no area restriction recorded, and the pub also appears on the Hull and East Yorkshire CAMRA branch dog-friendly pub guide, which is branch evidence rather than the pub’s own words.

The Roos Arms stands on Main Street in Roos, about two miles inland from the sand at Tunstall, and its own website describes it plainly as a dog friendly country pub. There are two guest ales on the hand pull alongside the lagers, food runs Thursday to Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes, and the pub keeps four en-suite rooms from around fifty pounds a night, though it does not publish a rule either way about dogs in those rooms so ring before you book one. Drinks-only hours are long, from two in the afternoon most weekdays and from noon at weekends, which makes it a sensible target at the end of the walk down Tunstall Lane to the coast.
