Yarm to Preston Park along the Tees

The best walk out of Yarm follows the west bank of the Tees north from the bridge, through the Tees Heritage Park, to the grounds of Preston Park Museum at Eaglescliffe. It leaves the cobbled High Street at the town hall, passes under the viaduct arches and stays with the river for two miles of level, mostly surfaced path with the water on your right the whole way. Turn round at the Preston Park car park for a shade under four miles, or carry on into the museum grounds. No Public Spaces Protection Order applies anywhere on this route, so a reliable dog can be off the lead, but the bank is undercut in places and the Tees runs deep and fast below Yarm.
