Wyming Brook and the Rivelin Dams

A gorge of pine, mossy crags and a fast, clear brook falling out of the Redmires plateau towards the Rivelin reservoirs, run as a nature reserve by Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust and holding a Green Flag. Wyming Brook Drive is a wide surfaced bridleway that takes the north-south line and is the easy way down; the footpaths on either side are rockier, with a string of small bridges over the water. The Trust's own line is that dogs on a lead are permitted on the reserve, so this is not a place to let one range even though the brook is a constant temptation. Cyclists use the bridleway, camping and fires are banned, and the car park on Redmires Road is the only sensible place to leave a car.
