Free parking at Town Quay and at Harrington harbour at the far end; both are open and neither fills except during events

South from the Town Quay along the shore path between the railway and the sea to the harbour at Harrington, on the line of the England Coast Path. It is flat, open and exposed, with shingle and rock below and grassy banks above, and the tide reaches the wall in places at high water so check the tide before you set off. It is the most direct way to get a dog off the streets of Workington and onto open coast. Turn at Harrington harbour and come back, or take the train one stop.

THE SMALL PRINTNatural England's published rule for the England Coast Path and its coastal margin is that dogs must be kept under effective control at all times and on a short lead of no more than 2 metres at all times near livestock. The railway runs immediately inland of the path and the tide reaches the wall in places.
