Our drawing of the route, over road and path data from OpenStreetMap. It shows where the walk goes and what it goes through. It is not a survey and not a navigation aid — carry OS Explorer on the hill.

Parking
Pay-and-display at Widemouth Bay, moderate size and full early in summer; Crackington Haven car park at the far end is small, so the bus back is the sane plan
Directions to the start →

Six and a half miles of the hardest coast path in Cornwall, four hours or more, with well over 500 metres of climbing in a repeating pattern of near-vertical descents to sea level and immediate reascents. Start at the Widemouth Bay car park and use the Bude to Boscastle bus to get back, or leave a second car at Crackington Haven where space is very tight. There are no stiles, which helps, but this is not a walk for a young, old or heavy dog: the ground is steep and loose in places, the drops at Dizzard and Bridwill Point are unfenced and immediate, and the only water is the streams in the valley bottoms.

THE SMALL PRINTBoth ends are restricted beaches under the Cornwall Council order: Widemouth bans dogs 10am to 6pm from 15 May to 30 September, Crackington Haven the same dates. Severe unfenced clifftop for most of the route.
