Easington Beach
The sand below Easington runs out under Dimlington Cliff, the highest boulder clay cliff on the Holderness coast at around forty metres, and no dog order applies to any of it. The East Riding of Yorkshire Council Public Spaces Protection Order names four beaches only, Bridlington North, Bridlington South, Hornsea and Withernsea, so there is no seasonal ban and no lead requirement at Easington on any date. Access is down Seaside Road past the caravan site at the east end of the village, and the cliff steps here are informal and get remade as the clay slips. This is a working landscape rather than a resort: the Easington gas terminal stands behind the cliff and there are no toilets, no cafe and no lifeguard. Go on a falling tide, keep off the cliff foot, and treat any taped-off section as closed.
Easington to Kilnsea on the England Coast Path
Easington is where the King Charles III England Coast Path's Holderness section begins, and Natural England opened this stretch after what the National Trail describes as one of the hardest bits of the whole project, because outside the villages almost no formal coastal access existed on the fastest eroding coast in the UK. From All Saints Church and the thatched tithe barn the route heads seaward past the great silver drums of the Easington gas terminal, then swings south along Long Bank with the sea bank on one side and the drains and set-aside of Sunk Island country on the other. Kilnsea Wetlands and the hides sit halfway along, and the walk ends at the Crown and Anchor above the Humber shore in Kilnsea. It is exposed, flat and often into the wind, there is no shelter and no water tap, and the fields alongside carry sheep and cattle in places, so a lead is needed past stock. The path is built to be rolled back inland as the cliff goes, so signposts occasionally sit on a line the map has not caught up with.
