A 3.6-mile loop out of Lyme over Ware Cliffs to the edge of the Undercliff, back along Marine Parade and the Cobb: an hour and three quarters of grassy field paths, a set of steep steps below Underhill Farm and a mile of hard promenade. Start from Holmbush car park on Pound Street, pay and display and the largest in town, which still fills by mid-morning in August. Leads are compulsory the whole seafront stretch under the town PSPO, the Ware Cliffs fields are usually grazed, and dogs are banned outright from Front Beach between 1 May and 30 September, so the sea swim has to wait for Monmouth Beach shingle.

THE SMALL PRINTLyme Regis PSPO: dogs on a lead of no more than 2 metres all year on Marine Parade, the Cobb, Cobb Gate car park, the harbour and sea walls, Gun Cliff Walk and Langmoor and Lister Gardens. Dogs are not allowed on Front Beach 1 May to 30 September; on a lead there 1 October to 30 April.
