Trans Pennine Trail: Penistone to Upper Denby

A stone hall on Mortimer Road on the southern edge of Penistone, run as a free house with a restaurant in the old conservatory and a public bar at the main entrance. Its own site is specific about where the dog goes: the main entrance public bar, not the restaurant. There is a large car park and grounds, and it sits close to the Penistone end of the Trans Pennine Trail, so it works as the finish of a walk in from Oxspring. It also has bedrooms, but the site says nothing about dogs in them, so ring before you book.

A modern three-storey holiday house on Hartcliffe Hill Road on the moorland edge above Penistone, sleeping eight, with a log burner and a view down to Langsett Reservoir and the Peak District boundary. The road it sits on runs straight out onto Hartcliff Hill and the moorland tracks, and the Trans Pennine Trail through Penistone is about two miles down the hill. The owners' own website says the cottage is pet friendly and invites you to bring your dog along; it does not publish a dog charge or say which rooms are off limits, so confirm at booking.
