A busy community local on Pogmoor Road, named after the Barnsley dialect writer, with one small bar but a layout that still gives the feel of separate rooms rather than one hall. A rear conservatory doubles as a function space and leads out to a large garden that fills up in summer, which is where a dog is happiest here. It is a short walk from Pogmoor recreation ground and the paths across to Gawber and the old canal. CAMRA branch surveyors list it as dog friendly; the pub publishes no policy of its own.
