Five and three quarter miles of proper Vale of Mowbray farmland from Thornton-le-Moor out to the Viewly Hill trig point and back, about two and a half hours; flat, honest and often very muddy along the green lanes. Start from the village, where there is roadside parking; Endican Lane out of the village begins as a cart track and narrows to a footpath. Arable field edges make up most of the distance but several fields are grazed with cattle, the becks are shallow drinking water rather than swimming, and the farm tracks carry working traffic.
