Our drawing of the route, over road and path data from OpenStreetMap. It shows where the walk goes and what it goes through. It is not a survey and not a navigation aid — carry OS Explorer on the hill.

A mile and a half round the middle of town on the waymarked pushchair route, half an hour at a gentle pace, entirely on pavement and made-up path with dropped kerbs throughout and not a stile or a step on it. It starts and ends in the cobbled Market Place, where parking is free for three hours and every bus in the district calls, and it takes in the millrace and the Cod Beck bridges on the quiet side of town. This is the walk for an old dog, a hot afternoon or a filthy February day, because it never gets muddy and there is no livestock at all; the whole thing is on the lead by necessity given the roads, but the Cod Beck gives a dog a drink at the footbridge and there is shade along the beck for most of the afternoon.

THE SMALL PRINTA town-centre route on pavements and beck-side paths with road crossings throughout; the dog stays on the lead from start to finish.
