A fourteenth-century tower house built out of stolen Roman stone, standing above the Tipalt Burn a short walk from Greenhead. Free, unstaffed and never busy, with a footpath approach through fields. Leads on, as the national park asks throughout its grazing land.

THE SMALL PRINTNorthumberland National Park asks that dogs are kept on leads around livestock and ground-nesting birds and that visitors stick to paths.
