The Ship is a pub on The Village, Strensall. It is listed here so you know it is there, but we have not yet established whether dogs are welcome — so there is no verdict on this page and no stamp. If it is your business, claim the page and tell us, and we will stamp it.

We have not checked this one yet

The Ship is a real pub in Strensall, and it is here so you know it exists. But we have not been able to find a dog policy for it that we would stand behind, so we are not going to guess at one. No verdict, no stamp, no date.

If this is your business, tell us whether dogs are welcome and we will put a stamp on it — free, and it stays free. Claim this page.

If you have been and you know the answer, tell us and we will go and confirm it.

These are the parts only the business can add. We check the dog policy and stamp the date — photos, prices and their own words are theirs to put in, and this listing is waiting for them.

Strensall Common

YO32 5YB
3.4 MI · 1H 23M · 90% OFF-ROAD

Three and a half miles round the edge of one of the last lowland heaths in the Vale of York, an hour and twenty minutes of nearly level walking over wet heath, birch scrub and sandy track with a railway crossing to treat with respect. Roadside parking only, in the lay-by at the Common Road level crossing or near the cattle grid where the road enters the common; the number 1 bus from York serves Strensall village half a mile away. Yorkshire Wildlife Trust asks that dogs stay on a lead on the surrounding paths and off the common itself, because this is a nationally important heath with nightjar, woodlark and other ground-nesting birds and the law requires a lead no longer than two metres on open access land between 1 March and 31 July; much of the neighbouring heath is also a live Ministry of Defence training area, so obey the red flags and signs absolutely.
