Football Hole and Newton Haven
Two small bays north of Low Newton, reached only by the coast path, which keeps them empty when Bamburgh is filling up. Sand, rock pools and low whinstone reefs, and no seasonal dog restriction at any point in the year. Park at Low Newton's top car park and walk in; there is no vehicle access to the sand.
Football Hole and Newton Pool
A three-mile ninety-minute circuit from the square at Low Newton over the links to the sheltered cove called Football Hole and back past the bird hides at Newton Pool. Park in the National Trust car park at the top of the hill above Low Newton, since the square itself is closed to cars; it is charged for non-members and holds around a hundred. The beaches carry no seasonal dog ban and are off-lead, but the freshwater pool behind the dunes is a reserve where leads are asked for, and the tern colony fencing at the Long Nanny begins a mile north.
