A picture-postcard sheltered bay tucked under the hillside village, ideal for fossil hunting along the shore. Dogs are welcome all year round, but time your visit with the tide — a large sandy beach appears at low tide while high water can cover the beach entirely.
A level two-mile there-and-back along the Cleveland Way from Runswick Bay's upper car park towards Staithes, looking over the remains of Port Mulgrave's 1856 iron-ore harbour. Mostly grass and earth paths with one kissing gate, and refreshments and toilets back in the village.
The upper-village hotel on the Cleveland Way, five minutes' walk from the beach, where all parts of the building are dog friendly. Expect an exuberant welcome from Ted, the resident brown Labrador landlord.
