A 17th-century coaching inn in a quiet one-street village between Kirkbymoorside and Lastingham, with a cosy fire-lit bar, a refurbished snug and eight en-suite rooms. The inn's own policy is clear: dogs are welcome in the bar area and the bedrooms, but not the dining room. Honest, locally sourced Yorkshire cooking and a good base for Rosedale and Hutton-le-Hole.
