A large Greene King pub and restaurant on Nursery Road at North Anston, a mile and a half east of Dinnington and the nearest pub with a published dog policy to the Dinnington and Anston walks. It has a big car park, outdoor seating and Sky and TNT on the screens, and it serves food from midday to nine. Anston Stones Wood is a ten-minute drive south and the Chesterfield Canal at Kiveton about the same west. It is a chain roadhouse rather than a village local, which is the trade-off for knowing the dog is welcome before you set off.

THE SMALL PRINTGreene King's own page for this pub: "You'll also find that we're dog friendly, have free Wi-Fi and disabled facilities." No area restriction is published, so treat the bar and dining areas as open to dogs, but the beer garden is the easier option at Sunday lunch.
