The Crags and Northcliffe Quarry

A burger and beer bar at 2 Excelsior Court off the top of Conisbrough, opened in 2022 in a former gift shop and open Thursday to Sunday evenings only, with food cooked to order and keg beer rather than cask. It is a single level-access room with terrace seating outside, small enough that a dog is at your feet rather than in a separate area. Conisbrough station and the walk down to the castle are both within a few hundred metres if you want to tire a dog out first. It is listed as dog friendly on CAMRA's WhatPub, surveyed in April 2026; that is the database's record rather than the bar's own statement.

The white circular keep above Conisbrough is the finest twelfth-century tower of its kind in England and stands on a steep motte over the Don valley, run by English Heritage. English Heritage states plainly that dogs on leads are welcome in the grounds only, so a dog can come round the bailey and the earthworks but cannot go up inside the keep or the visitor centre; assistance dogs are welcome across the whole site. The grounds are grass and steep in places and there is no shade on the motte on a hot afternoon. There is no visitor car park of its own: English Heritage recommends Calvert Way opposite the private car park at the bottom of Castle Hill, with street parking in the village and a few accessible bays by the visitor centre.
