Charlestown to Porthpean
Just under three miles of coast path between a Georgian china clay port and a small sandy bay, about an hour and three quarters at a moderate grade with two short steep pulls out of the coves. Park at Charlestown, where the pay-and-display sits behind the harbour and the tall ships, and return by the field path above Duporth. There are no remaining stiles on the route, which suits any size of dog, but the cliff path is unfenced for most of the way and the beach picture is unusually strict here: Charlestown and Duporth ban dogs all year and Porthpean is closed in the peak weeks.

You will be spoilt for choice by the selection of fine pubs and restaurants catering for all tastes. Carlyon Bay (1.5 miles away) has a fabulous coastline with some lovely walks sheltered coves and traditional fishing villages. The National cycle trail number 3 takes you to pretty Mevagissey within 30 minutes which is another quaint fishing village to explore. Attractions within easy reach include the Eden Project The Shipwreck Centre Lost Gardens of Heligan and Cardinham Woods. National Trust properties nearby include Lanhydrock House. Forming part of the former customs house this property has been lovingly remodelled into a contemporary duplex apartment but retains many original features including exposed beams and a handsome local granite façade. The accommodation is accessed via a set of external stone steps and is set over two floors. Stepping inside this apartment you will find yourself in a beautifully light open plan living space with comfortable seating and Smart TV/DVD player at one end and a well-equipped kitchen and breakfast bar at the other. The characterful beams and vaulted ceiling give a lovely sense of space. These features carry on throughout the lower floor. A stylish double room is just along the hallway as are the shower room with WC (with underfloor heating) and the second separate WC. Ascending the stairs to the upper floor you access the second bedroom where the velux windows provide views over the lovely well-maintained grounds next door. The king sized bed in this room can be made into two singles to suit your requirements. The original beams give a unique feature to this light and airy room. Need to know: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, and 1 king sized bed on the upper floor (which can be made up as a twin on request must be requested at time of booking). Please note that the upper floor bedroom has a pitched ceiling with low headroom on each side.. Bathrooms both on lower floor; Shower room with WC (with underfloor heating), additional separate WC. Smart TV and DVD in open plan living space. Kitchen comprises of electric oven and induction hob, microwave oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Bed linen and towels (not beach towels) included.. Electric, heating and Wi Fi included. 1 small well behaved dog welcome. Beach, harbour, pubs, restaurants and shops all within a few minutes walking distance. Secure allocated gated off road parking for 1 car.
